Dave has taken anti-inflammatory and pain medications
for 3 years to combat the pain in the larger bones in his body, specifically
in his hips, shoulders and spine.
The cause of this disease is unknown, and often
results in the joining together (ankylosis) or 'freezing' of the bones
of the spinal column.
In advanced stages, surgery is performed in an
attempt to alleviate the pain. The ankylosis is due to destruction
of cartilage and bone, similar to the destruction in rheumatoid arthritis.
Dave also has arthritis in other areas of his
body, including his hands.
After 9 sessions, Dave was able to stop taking
all pain medication and anti-inflammatory drugs.
